Performed often at Christmas and Easter, Messiah, composed by George Frideric Handel, is one of the most popular works in western coral literature. It presents the Christain view of Messiah, or "the annointed one" - Jesus the Christ. Divided into three parts, it covers the prophecies concerning the coming of Christ, the birth, miracles, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of Jesus, and Christ's final victory over death and sin. As part of the season of Lent, come learn more about the most famous and important work of Christian music! Phillip Haworth, Suncreek UMC's Minister of Music, will delve into the composition, history and meaning of Messiah, and help you appreciate this magnificent work like never before. Phillip will host this seminar on Messiah: Sunday, March 18, 6:30 - 8:30pm in the round room from 6:30 pm to 8:00pm in the round room. There is no cost for this course, but pre-registration is required.
